Humanistic pedagogy

Humanistic education is based on interdisciplinary pedagogy

Do you believe in man? Thinking about tomorrow? Confused about how to combine everything? It's not a pie in the sky.

The "Hagut Institute" fosters academic and educational discourse in the fields of humanities. The institute brings together experts on Jewish culture, experienced in formulating a value vision and has developed a variety of humanistic - interdisciplinary pedagogies

Education is a path towards excellence or virtue.

What destination does your education aim for? This goal should be defined collectively within the team.

The most effective educational programs are grounded on significant learning objectives from which we can derive useful study methods and content.

A well-defined roadmap creates a guiding light, or "lighthouse," for every educational framework and enhances the realm of development teams in creating meaningful curricula.

Having a clear vision along with autonomy for development teams, as well as interdisciplinary teaching tools, are crucial to success. It requires effort, but is worth it.

Why should it be interdisciplinary?

Human activity is essentially a multifaceted matte

Literature, art, history, citizenship, the Bible are aspects of the fabric of human creation. That is why it is appropriate for the "fields" to be integrated into a historical story, moral questions, or social activity - without eliminating a proper dosage of unique tools and skills for each field.

A humanistic approach balances between the values of universal freedom and our unique story.  between the need to be free and the need to belong.  between man as a creator in his culture and between his emotional and intellectual essence

Why prioritize Secular Jewish Humanism?

Education grounded in secular values aligns with the humanist tradition within Judaism as a cultural entity. This type of education fosters diversity and promotes respectful dialogue by considering multiple perspectives.

At 'Hagut' Institute, we believe that humanistic principles have inherently been part of Jewish culture, making it crucial to explore these values from the perspective of secular students. This necessitates a guiding approach and open-mindedness.

Jewish culture is vast, deeply rooted, continually evolving, and has significant influence on various educational spheres.

You can also integrate various scientific disciplines.

Science is rooted in human reason and its capacity to explore and understand the natural world, with reasoning developing within a cultural context.

Albert Einstein delved into questions related to Jewish humanism and promoted teachings from Baruch Spinoza, who was influenced by Maimonides as well as Leibniz, an accomplished philosopher and mathematician. Shlomo Maimon, a Polish rabbi and friend of Mendelssohn's, is primarily a rationalist secular philosopher whose contributions are significant in engineering.

There is no compelling reason to distinguish between knowledge about humanity and knowledge about the universe. Although the research methods may differ, the nature of humans and the cosmos are fundamentally interconnected.
